Some garden animals

Hi once more and happy Wednesday, I hope you’ve had a good week? A little later than usual due to work (better to be kept busy than not at all, makes the day go much faster, right?) this week I have photos mainly of some garden animals spotted over the last couple of weeks, but to start off a couple of scenic pics I took a few weeks ago. As always I’d be thrilled to hear your feedback 🙂

Clicking on the pics will enlarge them.

The flowers in the first picture are scentless mayweed, really quite common but they looked quite beautiful blowing in the early evening breeze.

The second photo was taken when we had a great sunset a few weeks back.

This cheeky little fella was the reason I decided to buy a feeding station for the birds as I spotted him hanging upside down on the oak tree in our garden trying to help himself to the seeds in the feeders…

And, continuing my obsession with the them, here are a few more robins. The first one was taken in the woods near me – Wokefield Common. The rest were in the garden.

We have a new addition to the collection of garden animals, a couple of nuthatches. Took me a while to ID them and they are sleek and slinky looking creatures.

And some grown ups…

I was surprised when I saw this, a big old starling perched on the station. It then hung off the sunflower feeder and had his fill.

To close, a shot I very nearly binned as I took it hastily but I thought the pigeon looked pretty cool almost out of focus but in flight…

And that’s it for this week. A little rushed today but I hope you liked the photos. As always your thoughts and comments are always appreciated. Thanks to those who took time out to comment last week, I have taken on board your comments.

Until next week, take care,

Mart

Mainly Macro

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you’re well? Over the last few weeks I’ve been taking mainly macro shots and today I’ll be posting up some more of my photos of bugs and spiders, so I hope you’re not too freaked out by them 🙂 Maybe you could leave me a few words to say yay or nay to these 8 legged freaks?

To start though just a little landscape shot I took in Midgham, West Berkshire. It’s nothing too spectacular but I love the greens; it shows what a rich and verdant country we live in.

Mainly Macro

Staying with landscapes, we had a beautiful but brief sunset one evening last week so I popped out with my camera, took a drive around and got a few shots;

I took a few more but haven’t had a chance to look through them all so you may see a couple more in the coming weeks.

I think the shot below is white campion, which grows in abundance around here but this was taken in Wokefield Common.

This shot is a Forget Me Knot, again from Wokefield Common. Below that is a foxglove with a little ant…

And so on to the part that is mainly macro. The only ones I have managed to ID so far are the 2 spiders. The first is a baby Garden Cross spider. The second is a type of stretch spider called Tetragnatha extensa;

Below is a cute little ladybird;

And the next couple don’t have names – or rather they do, I just don’t know them!. Feel free to let me know if you know what they are…

And, to finish things off, my favourite little bird…

As always thank you for your time and hope you liked the photos I posted up today. I always ask but I would like to hear any thoughts you have, the comments boxes are waiting 🙂

If you like any of the pics and would like to buy a print or two then again please contact me.

Thanks,

More wildlife photos

Happy hump-day! This week I’m posting up some more wildlife photos which I took over the last couple of weeks. In the usual manner I’d love it if you left some comments or feedback on these photos 🙂

My sister bought us some herbs recently. The sage has done really well and is attracting bees like there’s no tomorrow which has meant I can practice my macro shots;

I have to say I’m particularly fond of these photos….

A few weeks back I had a wander around Whitehill, near Kingsclere in Hampshire. I’ve been there a couple of times and had only walked along one side which is beautiful in its own right, but this time I took a trek up to the huge antenna at the top of the hill…and beyond.

More wildlife photos

It’s a fantastic walk, taking in some beautiful views of the English countryside. I also happened upon a Meadow Pipit (or so I’m told). I noticed him hovering around a copse of small trees before finally landing and belting out a fair bit of chatter. Luckily one of the several shots I took of him was a keeper;

Further along I managed to grab a shot of a goldfinch that I spotted in the bushes. I’d seen these birds a few times in various places and wondered what they were. Thanks to a great Facebook page called Great British Countryside I found out what they are, and a hell of a lot of other stuff. Thanks guys 🙂

As I was wandering along the road I met a couple who were walking the other way. They told me about a Great-Spotted Woodpecker chick who kept popping his head out of a tiny hole in a tree further along. As I approached it I realised its parents were around and trying to feed it so I only stayed a couple of minutes. Again I was lucky to get 1 decent shot out of the few I took.

On my way back I fired off a quick shot of a snail taking shelter on a stem, probably my favourite shot from this particular walk.

More wildlife photos

Back home now and a couple more Robin shots 🙂

And as promised last week, a few more photos of the Yellow-Tailed Moth caterpillar, this one is a little smaller than the one I posted up last week;

My last photo this week is a pretty little flower spotted in Wokefield Common in Burghfield.

Thanks for spending time looking at the photos I’ve posted up, I hope you liked them. Don’t forget any of these photos can be purchased, just drop me a line and we can sort something out. And as I said above, don’t be shy about leaving comments, it’d be great to hear what you think about these photos.

Thanks,

Mart

More birds & things

Hi again, it’s that day of the week again where I post up some photos, and this week it’s a case of more birds & things, so no real theme 🙂

I’m not going to spend too much time typing as there really isn’t that much to say about this week’s post, just that there are some more photos of robins, tits and a few other random subjects, so with that said, I hope you like the photos and please leave any comments, thoughts etc in the feedback boxes below.

Starting things off is this shot I took at Whitehill, Hampshire a few weeks ago. I was there again last weekend so there will be more photos from this area in a week or so 🙂

More birds & things

The next set were all taken in my back garden again. I told you I was becoming obsessed with robins…

And a magnificent Great Tit…

This one was taken in Wokefield Common woods, just up the road from where I live, as was the shot of the blackbird….

These 2 shots were taken at Northbrook Park, just outside Farnham where I was at a wedding last week. I’d never seen an albino peacock before, he really is quite amazing;

The final pics were from our back garden again, the caterpillar is that of a yellow-tailed moth. I’ll have a couple more of them next time.

That’s it for this week, thank you so much for your time, please do leave any feedback below, I love reading your comments.

Sadly the service I used via Photobox for providing a gallery of prints for sale is being phased out so if you are interested in purchasing any photos from my site please drop me an email through the contact form 🙂

Take care and see you again soon.
