More various photos

Hi folks, I hope you’re well? This week brings more various photos taken from around the area where I live; Burghfield.

As always click the pics to see larger versions and if let me know what you think.

I’m going to start off close to home, in my back garden in fact with another few of my favourite feathered creatures, the humble robin…they still love to pose as you can see.

The next two were taken in Wokefield Common.

Moving further afield now with more various photos, the first shot below was taken near the park & ride at Mereoak, right next to the busy A33 and junction 11 of the M4. There are a few fields just filled with these gorgeous and delicate poppies.

The second shot was taken on the same evening overlooking Amner’s Farm towards the M4 near Burghfield. It’s been a while since I took some landscape and sunset shots.

And on to the River Kennet near Theale…I know the next two shots may be a bit more specialist and not to everyone’s taste, but I do find macro photography quite intriguing, and seeing insects and things up close lends a whole new perspective to them.

These guys were so intent on their feeding frenzy that I was able to get pretty close to them without them flying off.

And to finish, these last few shots were taken near the Burghfield Sailing Club lake, again near Theale. The first shot is a Ringlet Butterfly. Unlike the feeding flies above I was unable to get close at all as the slightest movement would send these delicate creatures fluttering off on the breeze, but I’m quite happy with how this shot turned out. Same for the Damsel Fly below it

And so that concludes this week’s photos. I hope you liked them. I’d love to hear your feedback so please pop a few words into the text box below.

I won’t be around next week but should have some photos for you from Pembrokeshire when I’m back next time, so until then take care,

Mart

More garden wildlife

Hi there, haven’t posted for a week or two but I have a few more photos since last time. And again they are pictures of more garden wildlife, along with a couple of other random shots.

As always please let me know what you think in the comments box.

So without further ado…

I’ll start off with the nuthatch. These birds are odd little fellows as they hang upside seemingly for  ages. Sometimes eating the seeds, sometimes just hanging there. The second photo is my favourite, he just seems to be waiting patiently for the great spotted woodpecker to finish.

And of course I absolutely adore the woodpecker…

Seems we have a large contingent of juveniles around the garden; they look so sweet…

And you all know how besotted I am with these birds. The main character is one I’ve dubbed Mr Scruffs. They are so territorial, so feisty but how could anyone hold that against them when they’re so damn cute :p

Then there are the goldfinches. They are regular visitors now and they don’t just eat the nyger seed but are also happy to take their fill of sunflower hearts. Unlike the other visitors they sit and eat quite calmly, sedately. Such beautiful birds, so colourful.

Well hopefully you’re not too bored of my bird photos, I will be trying to get out a little more rather than just taking photos from my garden 🙂

Our squirrel is getting a little less shy now, he was running up and down the tree and along the fence as bold as brass. Bit of a cutie I think, and that tail is so bushy and fluffy.

I took this shot of Maya after she had been for a swim in the local boating lake…

And last but by no means least, a couple of macro shots from along the River Kennett; a pretty Common Mallow followed by a couple of tiny beetles snacking on an Oxeye Daisy.

Thanks once again for looking. A friend of mine asked if I had thought about putting a book together of my robin pics. I wonder if there would be much call for one, if you think you may be interested then let me know in the comments box and if I get enough interest I could have a look at offering it as an option 🙂

Until next time, take care;

Mart
