Birds, horses and trees

Hi there, thanks for popping over to have a look at my photos. I hope you’re well and having a good week? This week I’ve been taking photos of birds, horses and trees. The weather has been cold but beautiful so I managed to get out for the first time in a while.

And so we’ll delve straight in. Remember, click on the photo to view a larger image, they look better that way 🙂

Birds

As you’re well aware by now, I love the birds 🙂 I took a walk along Silchester Wall a couple of weeks ago and chanced upon a friendly robin. He was happy enough to pose a moment whilst I snapped him on a fence and then on a headstone.

And with the cold weather comes the birds looking for a snack. This blue tit was on the feeder for a good few minutes. Most of the time they flit on and off very briefly, I think he must have been hungry!

Horses

I’d missed out on some amazing winter sunrises recently. I finally got my act together and took my camera in to work with me. Along the way I stopped off near Amner’s Farm and these are the results;

And last weekend I took a stroll over at Whitehill, near Kingsclere and saw these two horses…

Trees

And of course you know of my fondness for trees, the lungs of the earth 🙂 The first photo was taken on New Year’s Day up in Appley Bridge.

The next two were shot near Beech Hill in West Berkshire

And the final 2 I took last weekend at Whitehill

And that brings to an end my post of birds, horses and trees. I hope you liked them. As always, you can order prints of these or any others on my website. Just drop me an email and let me know which ones.

Nine more photos

Hi there, remember me? 🙂 I know it’s been a few weeks since I last posted some photos, I hope you’re well?  This week I’ve nine more photos to post up, which I hope you like.

As usual from my nine more photos there are some new and some old. Starting with the old..

Hose Hill Lake

I took these almost a year ago to the day down at Hose Hill Lake, Burghfield. It was a beautiful day, the air was so crisp and clear, perfect for taking a photo or two. Oddly I passed over these pictures back then (sometimes I take so many that this is easily done 🙂 )

Nine more photos

Barkham

Taken earlier this year – January to be precise – in Barkham, on the way to Wokingham. It was a wonderfully cold morning back then. I managed to grab a shot just as the sun was peeking over the hill. Perfect timing!

Nine more photos

Castle Combe

I still rate this place as one of the quaintest places I have ever visited. It’s a tine little village nestled somewhere in Wiltshire. The sky is edited to give a more interesting look, I want to go back on a better day…

Summer

…seems like a distant memory now. We did have a good one, didn’t we? I took this on my way back from Reading, along the River Kennet. It was a beautiful day and it was the first time I’d followed the river into town.

Nine more photos

Frosty Grazeley

And these last few were taken last week, about 8am as I was driving in to work. It was one of those clear and frosty mornings that I love so much.

And there we have it, nine more photos to add to the collection! I hope you liked them. I’m hoping that the weather gets a little more interesting in the coming week as this white cloud is a bit dull!

Until next time, take care,

Mart

All Over the Place

Hi once more and thanks for visiting. Is it really Wednesday again..already? I have a few photos from all over the place today, a real mish-mash 🙂 So this week I have a few from my garden and surrounding areas.

The Garden

I’ll start off with a few from the garden. As always please click on the photos to see larger versions, and feedback is always welcomed;

Biking

Riding along the River Kennet a couple of weeks ago and was chuffed to come across this beautiful bird. First time I’ve seen one so I was pleased he wasn’t shy, you would’t believe how many photos I took!

All Over the Place

All Over the Place

My bike propped up as I take a break and a quick photo. This was actually 3 photos taken at different exposures, then merged to create an HDR photo.

Again, this shot is made up of 3 different photos and merged, then tweaked a little. I really like the brush-stroke effect of the clouds.

Mortimer

For the first time in a while I went out sunset chasing which lead me to our neighbouring village – Mortimer. Sadly the sunset didn’t happen as planned, but I did manage to take a few shots which I’m happy with. The first 2 were taken approaching Mortimer at the bottom of the village, the bottom 2 are of St Mary’s Church

And Finally…

A random re-edit of Bolton Abbey, washed out in black & white then a reflection added, just ‘cos 🙂

All Over the Place

As always thanks for stopping by. I’d love to hear your feedback so why not fill in one of the comments boxes 🙂

Photobox have stopped providing their free galleries which is why I have taken down my ‘prints to buy’ link. That’s not to say I’m not selling anymore, just let me know which photos you want.

So until next time, have a great week,

Thanks,

Mart

Weekend Up North

Hi, another Wednesday and some more photos, this time taken from my weekend up north a couple of weekends ago. Do feel free to leave any thoughts or feedback in the comments boxes 🙂

It was my Mum’s birthday and we treated her to tickets to see ELO in Manchester, and of course we had to go as well, just to make sure she enjoyed herself of course 🙂

It was a great gig, lots of fun and nice to spend some time up north with my family. The weather behaved itself too which was an added bonus, meaning I could wander around some of my old haunts.

I drove up on the Saturday afternoon and it rained so much on the way up, I was thinking that the whole weekend up north would be a wash-out. By the time evening came however we we’re treated to a gorgeous sunset;

The Sunday was gorgeous weather so I took advantage of it and drove to the small village of Parbold, where I went to primary school. It brought back so many memories…

Sadly there was nowhere to park up in the village centre as I’d have loved to have taken some shots along the Leeds-Liverpool canal. I ended up driving through Hilldale and up Hunter’s Hill where I was treated to some spectacular views;

The tower off in the distance of the middle shot above is Blackpool Tower. To the left you can even make out a rollercoaster!

I took quite a few shots while I was up north but haven’t managed to look at them all so there may be the odd one or two pop up at some point in the future 🙂

Thanks so much for taking the time out to look at my photos of up north, I hope you enjoyed them. As always I’d love to know what you think, which is why there’s a comments box so please feel free to use it 🙂

And of course prints are available to buy of any of my photos, either use the photos to buy link or email me directly.

Cheers,

Mart

Been a while

Hi there, well it’s been a while since I last posted anything on my website, mainly down to rubbishy weather and lack of time to get out and take many photos. With the clocks going forwards as we go into Springtime hopefully the weather will be a bit kinder as I really miss being outside taking photos.

Just a few photos to post up really but I hope you like them nonetheless. Starting off with a few flower shots which I took while practicing some close ups;

Tulips

Then a couple of our Rhodesian Ridgeback, Maya, such a cutie but trying to get her to stay still without bribing her with snacks is a bit of a pain 🙂

Just Maya

And keeping the animal theme going, some lovely horses in a field in Sulhamstead, just up the road from where I live. I got talking to the owners while I was there and the guy said if any of my photos came out well he’d be interested in seeing them, we didn’t exchange email addresses so I hope he chances upon my site. I only got one or two shots as it was getting dark but I’m planning on going back up there soon, weather dependant of course….

Sulhamstead horses

And, to finish off, a couple of sunset shots, both from Grazeley but taken a few weeks apart with the last one only taken last night and in different parts of the area. A big shout-out to those who drove past while I was taking the photos who beeped and shouted at me 🙂

I hope you enjoyed the photos, hopefully it won’t be as long before I post up some more, but until then, take care and please leave any comments or feedback in the comments box.

Don’t forget also that prints of my photos can be bought 🙂

Cheers,

Mart
