Nine more photos

Hi there, remember me? 🙂 I know it’s been a few weeks since I last posted some photos, I hope you’re well?  This week I’ve nine more photos to post up, which I hope you like.

As usual from my nine more photos there are some new and some old. Starting with the old..

Hose Hill Lake

I took these almost a year ago to the day down at Hose Hill Lake, Burghfield. It was a beautiful day, the air was so crisp and clear, perfect for taking a photo or two. Oddly I passed over these pictures back then (sometimes I take so many that this is easily done 🙂 )

Barkham

Taken earlier this year – January to be precise – in Barkham, on the way to Wokingham. It was a wonderfully cold morning back then. I managed to grab a shot just as the sun was peeking over the hill. Perfect timing!

Nine more photos

Castle Combe

I still rate this place as one of the quaintest places I have ever visited. It’s a tine little village nestled somewhere in Wiltshire. The sky is edited to give a more interesting look, I want to go back on a better day…

Summer

…seems like a distant memory now. We did have a good one, didn’t we? I took this on my way back from Reading, along the River Kennet. It was a beautiful day and it was the first time I’d followed the river into town.

Nine more photos

Frosty Grazeley

And these last few were taken last week, about 8am as I was driving in to work. It was one of those clear and frosty mornings that I love so much.

And there we have it, nine more photos to add to the collection! I hope you liked them. I’m hoping that the weather gets a little more interesting in the coming week as this white cloud is a bit dull!

Until next time, take care,

More various photos

Hi folks, I hope you’re well? This week brings more various photos taken from around the area where I live; Burghfield.

As always click the pics to see larger versions and if let me know what you think.

I’m going to start off close to home, in my back garden in fact with another few of my favourite feathered creatures, the humble robin…they still love to pose as you can see.

The next two were taken in Wokefield Common.

Moving further afield now with more various photos, the first shot below was taken near the park & ride at Mereoak, right next to the busy A33 and junction 11 of the M4. There are a few fields just filled with these gorgeous and delicate poppies.

The second shot was taken on the same evening overlooking Amner’s Farm towards the M4 near Burghfield. It’s been a while since I took some landscape and sunset shots.

And on to the River Kennet near Theale…I know the next two shots may be a bit more specialist and not to everyone’s taste, but I do find macro photography quite intriguing, and seeing insects and things up close lends a whole new perspective to them.

These guys were so intent on their feeding frenzy that I was able to get pretty close to them without them flying off.

And to finish, these last few shots were taken near the Burghfield Sailing Club lake, again near Theale. The first shot is a Ringlet Butterfly. Unlike the feeding flies above I was unable to get close at all as the slightest movement would send these delicate creatures fluttering off on the breeze, but I’m quite happy with how this shot turned out. Same for the Damsel Fly below it

And so that concludes this week’s photos. I hope you liked them. I’d love to hear your feedback so please pop a few words into the text box below.

I won’t be around next week but should have some photos for you from Pembrokeshire when I’m back next time, so until then take care,

Mart

Mainly Macro

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you’re well? Over the last few weeks I’ve been taking mainly macro shots and today I’ll be posting up some more of my photos of bugs and spiders, so I hope you’re not too freaked out by them 🙂 Maybe you could leave me a few words to say yay or nay to these 8 legged freaks?

To start though just a little landscape shot I took in Midgham, West Berkshire. It’s nothing too spectacular but I love the greens; it shows what a rich and verdant country we live in.

Mainly Macro

Staying with landscapes, we had a beautiful but brief sunset one evening last week so I popped out with my camera, took a drive around and got a few shots;

I took a few more but haven’t had a chance to look through them all so you may see a couple more in the coming weeks.

I think the shot below is white campion, which grows in abundance around here but this was taken in Wokefield Common.

Mainly Macro

This shot is a Forget Me Knot, again from Wokefield Common. Below that is a foxglove with a little ant…

And so on to the part that is mainly macro. The only ones I have managed to ID so far are the 2 spiders. The first is a baby Garden Cross spider. The second is a type of stretch spider called Tetragnatha extensa;

Below is a cute little ladybird;

And the next couple don’t have names – or rather they do, I just don’t know them!. Feel free to let me know if you know what they are…

And, to finish things off, my favourite little bird…

As always thank you for your time and hope you liked the photos I posted up today. I always ask but I would like to hear any thoughts you have, the comments boxes are waiting 🙂

If you like any of the pics and would like to buy a print or two then again please contact me.

Thanks,

Maya, Paddy and a robin

Hi there! Happy Wednesday, I trust you’re well and life is being good to you 🙂 This week I have a few photos of Maya, Paddy and a robin as well as a couple of left-over shots from when I went to Dinton Pastures a few weeks ago.

You’ll already know Maya, our Ridgie. Well we took a walk with friends of ours through a gorgeous place called Little London which is just on the outskirts of Silchester and Tadley, in Hampshire. Paddy is their dog, he’s a Wire Fox Terrier and is a proper handful of trouble, but he and Maya get on so well and love running, fighting and flirting with each other.

He really is as much trouble as he looks, bless him!

Up until a few weeks ago when I was wandering around Sulham Woods and photographed the Posing Robin I was not really too fussed about birds, but now it’s an area I want to get more proficient in. These 2 shots were taken from my bedroom window. They are a tad on the grainy side as I only have a 75-250mm lens and I had to zoom all the way in, then when I came to edit them I had to crop right into the image. Still, I think they came out pretty well, all things considered 🙂 What do you think?

The next few photos were taken in Chapel Row, a lovely little place in West Berkshire. There is a fantastic tree-lined road that leads straight into Chapel Row and a little open park where I spotted a trio of ducks waddling around in;

And, to finish, a few throw back shots of our walk around Dinton Pastures a few weeks ago…when I go out and about taking photos I always take loads. I’ll usually spend a little time editing a selection and post them up pretty much straight away. Then I’ll re-visit the album a few weeks later and usually more of them will leap out at me…

Thanks for taking the time out to look at the photos of Maya, Paddy and a robin, I hope you like them. I’m always happy to hear your thoughts on them so please leave your thoughts and comments in the blank boxes below 🙂

Prints are also available to buy, just click here for a selection, or email me and tell me which ones you’re interested in. I bought an aluminium print of one of my photos and have to say it’s a beautiful medium so why not spoil yourself… 🙂

Anyways, enough of the hard sell, I hope to have some more pics up next week, so until then take care…

Frosty Playground

Hiya 🙂 Hope you’re all well and have had a good couple of weeks. This time around I’ve got a few random shots but focussing mainly on some photos of a frosty playground which I took last Friday morning after we had a bit of a frosty start to the day.

First off is a photo I took last night of the Snow Moon. I only found this out last night but apparently each full moon has its own name. Last night’s has a few; Hunger Moon, Snow Moon and Bone Moon. I had just left the house to walk Maya when I saw it just above the horizon. I was a bit gutted I couldn’t just grab a few photos of it there and then but had to wait until I got back before I could capture it, but which time the colour was draining and it had risen above the treeline so I couldn’t pull anything into the frame as an anchor…

Hungry Moon

The shot below was really just one of several practice shots with using my macro lens, I took a few with different exposures and merged them to create a true HDR shot. I was playing with the depth of field, hence the foreground being out of focus (yes, it is intentional, honest 🙂 )

Yellow Flower

The 2 shots below were taken in Beech Hill a week or so ago…

Yellow Sky

Beech Hill

The first shot was a zoomed in shot from where the sun appears just behind the tree line, whilst the second shot was taken using a wide-angle lens and zoomed all the way out to show the fields and road.

Sulhamstead Pano

The photo above is made up of 2 shots stitched together and was taken in Sulhamstead as the sun sank behind the house. I love these kinds of silhouetted shots, especially with such warm and inviting colours. I reckon the would look amazing as a print.

Sunrise

Playground

Swings

Roundabout

And, the final 4 shots were taken at the little recreation ground in Burghfield, just near the Hatch Gate pub. We had had a bit of a chill the night before so the colours in the air were pretty crisp and sharp. I thought the frosty playground looked kind of cool.

As always thanks for your time, I hope you liked this week’s offerings. I’m always keen to get any feedback you have, so feel free to post a comment, let me know what you think.

And, as I’m sure you already know if there are any photos you’d like to buy as prints then let me know. Normal prints look great but canvasses and aluminium prints look amazing 🙂

You can either let me know directly which ones you’re interested in, or click through from the Prints to Buy section and order direct 🙂

Until next time, take care.

A Varied Assortment of Photos

Hi folks, hope you’re well? I haven’t posted for a week or two as photo opportunities have been very few and far between but I have amassed a varied assortment of photos since I last posted. This will also probably be my last post of the year as next Wednesday will very nearly be the day itself and I don’t foresee me getting out much between now and then.

To view larger images, please click on the photo 🙂

The first photo to show you is of the church St Matthews in Midgham. I went there a year or so ago and took a load of photos but this time it was’t a trip to visit the church specifically, I just stopped off along the A4 Bath Road on my way home from dropping my daughter off at ballet and happened to have my camera…

Midgham Church CKLR DONE

Just to show you the kind of weather we’ve been having where I am, the next shot was taken a couple of days ago near the Burghfield Sailing Club, all that gloomy and horrible white cloud…even the swans want to get away!

Burghfield Sailing Club Gloomy Day WM

And, in total contrast, this one was taken in the same week at Rosehill Lake which is literally just a stone’s throw from the Burghfield Sailing Club – just across the road in reality…

Hosehill Lake Intensify LR

The next 2 were taken on the same day as the one above….the first being from Rosehill Lake again, and the second was taken just along one of the many country roads around Burghfield.

Hosehill Lake Tree LR

Trees in Sulhampstead

The rest of my photos are ones I took a couple of days ago once we got the tree up; knowing how much of a fan I am of shallow depth of field and bokeh it will come as no surprise that the rest of the varied assortment are an exercise in those things 🙂

As always thank you so much for taking time out to look at my photos, I hope you like them.

I’d love to hear your thoughts the photos and website as a whole so please do leave any comments in the comments box 🙂

Over the festive break I’m going to be looking at a bit of a website redesign, something fresh for the new year.

A few of you have been kind enough to buy some of the photos I have taken, I’d love to know what you think of them on canvas and would like to say that these prints would look amazing on aluminium. Please do let me know if you’re interested in any of these [photos on any medium (canvas, aluminium, even just a print or maybe a coffee table book…)

Many thanks for your support throughout the year and I’d like to take this opportunity to wish you a happy Christmas and fantastic New Year 🙂
